The Mauritius International Art Fair (MIAF) was held from August 8th to 11th, 2019 at Le Caudan Arts Centre, Mauritius, under the headline “Fostering Unity, Celebrating Differences.” This unique event aimed at positioning Mauritius as a hub for the arts and culture in the region and globally.

The exhibition took place at the newly opened Le Caudan Arts Centre, a landmark cultural venue in Mauritius. Nestled at Le Caudan Waterfront, precinct of Port Louis, a vibrant and iconic location that seamlessly marries business with leisure and culture, Le Caudan Arts Centre was transformed into a lively open-air studio for the duration of an exhibition. Boosting a theatre with exceptional acoustics, an exhibition area and other first-rate facilities, Le Caudan Arts Centre is set to be a leading cultural destination in the region.

Mauritius as an Artistic & Cultural Hub

Founded by artist activist and founder of ZeeArts, Zaahirah Muthy, established the MIAF as a multidisciplinary contemporary art fair designed to introduce original artwork from local, regional and international artists.  By bringing such a wide range of influences, MIAF aims to position Mauritius as an internationally renowned art hub, to generate increased levels of tourism both during the festival and year-round, to educate Mauritian society about the value of buying original artwork as an investment and to empower the younger generation by involving and engaging  them in an arty initiative during the MIAF.
